e-nunciation is an interactive tool for practicing American English pronunciation. In this application, you will find close-up videos, side-view animations, lists of words and sentences with matching audio, and a recording function that allows you to record your own voice.

Features:

Video:

Close-up videos and side-view animations clearly show the movement of the lips, tongue and air flow. Helpful arrows show the key points to focus on. Videos can be enlarged, and a helpful “scrubbing” bar allows you to scroll through the video at different speeds or stop anywhere on the video.

Audio:

Over 1000 audio files of words and sentences with audio tracks provide a great resource for practicing sounds as they appear at the beginning, middle or end of a word. There are also lists of “comparison” words to practice sounds that are similar to each other.

Recording

e-nunciation contains a recording function that allows you to compare your own
pronunciation with that of a native speaker. Once you make a recording and press the play-back button, the recorder will play the word or sentence as spoken by a native speaker, and then it will play your recording. This provides the ability for real-time comparisons, which will help you with both speaking and listening.

User Friendly

The interface is designed to be easy to navigate, with labels that are easy to understand. Sounds are divided into basic groups: Consonants (B, C, D…), Combinations (Ch, Sh, Th), and Vowels (A, E, I, O, U). One special group is Final R. These are sounds produced when R is at the end of a word.
