CHALLENGE

The client wanted Cabot to develop an App using BLE which can be used to detect a prototype shearforce measuring device that is fitted on a wheelchair and lists their sensors value on the mobile device. At a later stage, these values can be imported to analytical engines and mining tools to study and broadcasts movements, speed and other similar attributes of handicapped people or developing useful devices for such people. This way the app would then become a part of IoT. The app is to be compatible with iOS, as well as Android.

SOLUTION

Shearforce Detector App detects a prototype shear force measuring device and lists their sensors value on the device, and vividly shows you how their readings with amazing graphics. The ShearForce detector device has internally, two force sensors whose values can be requested via a BLE module. The detector device also has one BLE module that uses a special GATT service with send and receive characteristics. The detector device connects to another BLE devices which have this specific service. Shear Force app is used to detect, show and connect to such a detector device, and thereby, communicate with the device by requesting and reading the sensor values in it through BLE of the mobile.

RESULT

The app resulted in having the ability to broadcasts movements, speed, and other similar attributes of handicapped people or developing useful devices for such people.It uses IoT technology and Bluetooth Low Energy which is a low power wireless connectivity mode.Furthermore, using the Bluetooth Smart capabilities provides the advantages inherent in the protocol, such as low power consumption and low latency.
